Born in Manhattan, NY on August 8, 1921, Bill Asher was the son of Lillian Bonner and Ephraim M. Asher, a successful

At age 19, Asher joined the army and served four years. He then worked for Universal Studios as an assistant cameraman. His first TV directing job was on the show, I Love Lucy. In the early 1960s, Asher launched a string of films that featured scantily clad surfers and old time actors. His movies were hits with teenage girls.
